Joio

Privacy policy

In effect since October 19, 2026. Updated on October 22, 2026. Versão em português.

Joio is a Chrome and Firefox extension that organizes your Gmail inbox: it groups mail by sender, suggests what to archive or unsubscribe from and ranks messages by relevance. This policy explains what data the extension uses, where it is kept and who it is shared with.

Summary

Gmail data

With your permission (Google sign-in), the extension uses the Gmail API to: read message headers, subjects and snippets; apply labels, archive, mark as read and move to Trash (always with confirmation and an undo option); send unsubscribe emails when the sender offers that method; and create filters you ask for. Full message bodies and attachments are not read.

This data stays in the extension's local storage (your browser's IndexedDB) and is deleted when you remove the extension.

AI classification

To estimate category and relevance, the extension sends Joio's server, for each message (or each sender), only:

Sent Not sent
sender name and address; subject; up to 300 characters of the snippet; Gmail system labels (such as "Inbox"); whether it is bulk or automated mail; sender authentication failures; aggregate counts for the sender (how many emails, how many replies, open rate) full body, attachments, recipients other than you, full headers, message IDs, labels you created

Joio's server forwards this summary to TypeSafe AI (the Jev model, in the United States), which returns probabilities. The server does not record the content sent or the response. Senders you mark as "never send to AI" never leave your browser.

Account and payments

To manage the free trial and plans, Joio's server keeps your Google account ID and email address, the dates of first and last use, the plan purchased, its expiry and how many classifications were used. Payments are processed by Stripe; Joio never receives or stores card details.

Limited use of Google data

Joio's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Gmail data is used only to provide the extension features you see on screen; it is not used for advertising, not sold and not read by humans, except with your explicit consent for support, when necessary for security or when required by law.

Anonymous metrics

The extension builds an anonymous scan report (rounded totals, with no addresses, domains, subjects or content) that you can see in Settings. It is sent only if you turn on "Share anonymous statistics", which is off by default.

Once allowed, the report goes to Joio's server after each scan, without your sign-in: it carries a random identifier created at install time, which is not linked to your Google account, and replaces the previous report from the same install. The connection's IP address is used only to limit abuse and is not recorded. Joio's website publishes only sums and medians of at least five inboxes, never the report of a single inbox. To stop, turn the option off; to delete what was already sent, write to the contact below with the identifier shown in Settings.

Your rights (LGPD)

You can revoke Joio's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, remove the extension to delete local data and ask for your account on Joio's server to be deleted by writing to the email below. We handle access, correction and deletion requests within 15 days.
